Dragonhouse 5 @ Kezar 3/5/11
Sounds like a great title for a kung fu flick, yes?
Dragonhouse 5 is amateur MMA. The promoter is a kung fu master that's been trying to get me out to this. I finally made it and it was a lot of fun. If you've never seen live MMA, this is a good venue because it's cheap, it's doesn't sell out (in fact, there's plenty of space) and it's got great action. CA amateur MMA goes 3 rds x 2 min, which favors strikers over grapplers as it takes more time to position in grappling. Also, as it's shorter then pro (which is 3 x 5, 5 x 5 for belts typically) the fighters don't need to pace themselves. Quite the opposite, they go all out as fast and furious as possible.
The next one is May 26th, but that might be too close to TCKFMCIII. We'll see.
