The hills are kicking my old ass. Actually my old calves. Had one of those cramp attacks last night. Haven’t had one in a while.
Last afternoon, we took the dogs for a walk in GGP. It was lovely, lots of families having a T-day picnic. We walked from Tara’s to the dog park, then back to stow lake. There we saw a half dozen raccoons, doing their dusk trash bin prowl. We had to give them a wide berth with the dogs who thought they could take the coons (no way, not even). Then we thought we saw a deer in the brush just off the MLK drive. But it wasn’t a deer. It was a huge coyote.
They were a pack of 3. Maybe 20 ft away. Nothing like looking a major predator dead in the eyes. That cold killer stare. They look at you, not caring for your sentience. They only judge if they can take you. I scooped up little Bottles and we high stepped it outta there. Sure, sure, there were coyote warning signs all over. In fact, we had slightly mocked one just a few minutes earlier. Put the SF fear in us. We are rethinking dog walks in SF greenways. Those coyotes were BIG…
