Avatar: the Way of Water (2022)

What a gorgeous film. What an excessively long self indulgent film. I couldn’t remember the finer details of the previous Avatar but there was enough to follow this. It must have been spectacular on the big screen. It was stunning on my tv. Its sorta avatar meets whale rider. The sea na’vi are like Māori with facial tattoos and tongue sticking out (but no haka). There’s at least an hour of fantastic scenery that could be cut out. It’s ok if you like that sort of thing. I do, but even my patience was taxed. The finale battle was epic and that somewhat redeemed it. And yeah, it sets up the threequel.

Not overly D00M recommended or not. See it if you’re inclined. But bring snacks and schedule potty breaks. This film demands an intermission, maybe two.
