I had to post this on behalf of ED because he once mentioned his love of The Phantom Tollbooth. And I have to agree; even though I never read it as a child, I enjoyed it as an adult. The Jules Pfeiffer drawings also make it a  classic. I have to admit that I had no idea he was still alive. Nice obituary in the NY Times.
