But what if the bank misplaces ten grand?
In the midst of my wealth quest, ( I know, I'm the anti-ED) I had to send a check for 10k to the bank. It's too bad I wrote the check on the wrong account and it bounced from here to Huntington Beach. I sent the Escrow company another check and transferred funds and made sure everything was okay.
This week the nice Escrow people called and said I had bounced the second check and if I didn't send the full funding amount for the house, I wouldn't get the new house. I did.
and yet as I lay there at work, I wondered where the money for the 10k was. It wasn't in my account. It had cleared a week a go. Yet my escrow people hadn't gotten.
It turns out, they had. They had cashed the first check when I transferred the funds. On the day they siad they couldn't cash my first check, they actuall could. They did. The Escrow people just didn't know about it. The ubiquitous "Some Girl in the Office" had made a mistake about verifying the deposit. Oopsy. Our bad. So, when I sent them the second check, it bounced because the first check had taken it. Those whacky Escrow people. I'm thinking of sending Urine Bombs.
