Life of Pi 3D
#1
I don't think the 3d did anything for this film. It didn't detract, but it didn't add either.

I had read the book a while ago and forgotten most of the story, but the movie seemed to follow what I remember. Lots of long, slow, gorgeous scenes, but engaging, like Hanks in Castaway. The CGI on the tiger (Richard Parker) is astounding.

Gerard Depardieu turns in a truly evil performance at the end, without even being present on film. I'm sure that's why he's on the credits, because apart from that, his actual on screen time is about 5-10 min.

It was entertaining - at times like watching the jelly fish exhibit at the aquarium. Some of the "message" gets a little heavy handed, but I enjoyed it in spite of that.

If it's still in theaters anywhere, I'd recommend it.
