I'm more broken than you

I might have to switch my doctors. He told me they don't have diabetes in third world countries nor do you find it in animals because of their mostly meat diets. He says if I just eat meat and cut out all the carbohydrates including fruits and vegetables, I'll lose weight and cure my diabetes.

Maybe time to remove that doc from this timeline.

What about the animals that don't eat meat? Do herbivores get diabetes? What about fruitbats? I'm confused...

Ugh. This December bloom is killing me with allergies. This attack has been building all week. It’s as bad as my worst springs - eyes burning, sinuses packed, sneezing like crazy. I’ve had my air filters on full and have been washing my face so much that it’s raw. Feckin climate change.

My allergies cost me my weekend, which was meant to catch up on chores and such. My face hurts. All Tu holes in my head are messed up. Still recovering.
Considered taking some meds but I get psychotically agro on otc allergy meds. And given the holiday stress I’m under right now, that would not be good. Bah Humbug gonna rip your eyes out agro. But damn, my sinuses hurt.

So. Coming up on Month #3 of Mystery Illness. One course of antibiotics done at Week 4. Now on Round II of steroids (the high-intensity blast had some effect, but petered out immediately) Now on a 5 week titration. Mixing in Mucinex DM and the OTC cough syrup so I can maybe sleep. I have a puffer (with a special chamber: Medi-Bong) that I hit several times a day.

Basically, lungs are junked-up after a massive sinus infection (which stole my ability to smell/taste for about 3 weeks, but all in order for Xmas dinner). Tested negative for Covid twice, lungs x-rayed twice for pneumonia (negative). Current theory, something triggered old asthma reflex, so lung inflammation makes mucus, coughing to get rid of mucus inflames lungs, etc.

So, I get a bit winded on stairs or walking up hills. Can still do the stabby. My energy levels are back up to +/- 85%, I guess. The ‘roids fuck with my mood, though.

That’s what’s up.

This would make a fine epitaph. Just sayin.

Sorry of hear of your prolonged suffering. Sounds miserable but you hide it well at pizzaxmas (unless you count passing Greg a head cold). Having suffered from fragile lungs after collapsing one, I can relate. Heal strong, brother.

I don't like the Mucinex...it seems to not affect any symptoms for me, but does make me incredibly loopy. I had a bad knife accident one year because I took some and decided to make bread pudding with a stale (hard as a rock) baguette and a brand new serrated knife. Luckily when I bounced off the bread and cut thru my finger, I only got to the tendon and not thru it and didn't puncture the knuckle area. First time I had stitches and lots of PT do prevent scar tissue from forming and keep flexibility.

My go to (besides pozole or thom gar kai soup) is alka-seltzer cold plus (the tablets, not the capsules). They changed the formula a few years ago, but for me, they still seem to work better than anything else.

I usually go with the nighttime formula when I decide that a cold is not going away, and it helps with the symptoms enough that I can get some rest, which is probably the best cure...

Nowadays when I travel, I measure the days by my daily pill container use.

I’m finishing week 5 of the cold/flu mystery illness. I am on day 5 of a 6-day antibiotic protocol that has me coughing and sneezing less and has relieved the sinus pain. It has not solved the stabbing back/lung/chest pain for which I’ve been directed to take 800mg of ibuprofen with meals. Sleeping seems to do the most good; unfortunately, I’m only able to sleep solidly for three hours at a time. Whether it’s a cough or a nightmare or a dog jumping on my head, something always manages to stop me from sleeping longer than three hours.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Glad you are getting a little bit of relief (better than none). Do they think the chest/back pains are muscular/caused by coughing? The 800 ibu is the classic anti-inflam dose good for muscle pain. I had antibiotics at the 6 week mark and it helped with the sinus infection. My chest, however...

I hurt myself today to see if I still feel.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Last night and today mark the least amount of drugs consumed in 4 months. Still winded when I walk an incline, lungs still tight, snot returned to viscous, but overall discomfort is less. 8 more days of steroids left.

Just got a note from my friend, Lyndell. He had a heart attack this week. 99% blockage in one of his arteries. Luckily they caught it and pumped him full of meds. He currently feels much better. But the rule is no one gets sick. I don't know how many times I have to say this to you people.

Oh no! Sorry to hear.

Do you know where he was when he had the cardiac?
