Fire on the mountain!
How's the air quality there? We're supposed to get some of the smoke starting today.

The latest fire, the Oak Fire, is to the North of us and mainly the smoke has been blowing west, so it hasn't been bad at all. I've barely even smelled the smoke from the fire. We had a little fire a couple miles up the road from us yesterday and that is the smoke I currently smell.

Fingers crossed this is the worst of it. Sadly, the Fire season is just starting.

Current AQi is 84 but it seems much clearer than that.

Turns out there was a fire about five miles up the road from me. It was a only a couple of acres. It is being referred to as the Grub Fire. The location of the fire is confusing to people. It's being reported as Road 600/Grub Gulch. The confusion comes because the other name for Road 600 is Grub Gulch. But there used to be a town called Grub Gulch, long since faded to weeds, they are referring to. Misty Ridge intersects with Road 600. I believe at this point the Grub Fire is already out.

Quote:Crews fighting brush fire at Upper Park Road in Santa Cruz, evacuations warnings

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. —
Firefighters are working to put out a brush fire on Upper Park Road in Santa Cruz.
The fire is burning near DeLaveaga Golf Course and has been named the DeLaveaga Fire. According to fire officials, the fire has burned two acres.
According to KSBW's news crew at the scene of the fire, evacuations warnings have been issued for N. Branciforte Ave. and Camille Lane.
Police are going door-to-door to homes near the fire telling them to be ready to evacuate.
This is a developing story, stay with KSBW 8 for the latest.

Copters have been scooping water from the ocean and flying it up to DeLaveaga (where SC Shakespeare has relocated) all day. You know what lies right in between the ocean and DeLaveaga? Our bungalow.

It's been like we're being chopper-straffed all morning. Yuki no likey.

Ugh.

We had a couple flyovers at the Lair by the big skyhook helicopters but nothing continuous.

Currently dealing with smoke from the Fork Fire which is about 30 miles Southeast of the Lair. According to the weather app, the AQI is 68. I think it's lying.

I cannot see the fire. But I can smell it. Lots of haze in the air.

And here we are again. Si Valley AQI was bad for Taylor Swift due to far away fires.

Sky looked hazy, but I didn’t think about it too hard. Then my eyes started burning. AQI for svale was over 160.

This world burning climate change wildfire season is bullshit.

Svale AQI 152. Cruz AQI 154.
Good thing I grabbed a fresh mask yesterday, just by chance (masking is still required at my mom’s facility).
