Fire on the mountain! - Legbone - 09-12-2015

So it looks like we are on the verge of being burned out. Evac advisor in place for our area. Choking smoke fills the air. Reminds me a little of sitting in the back of the RM supply van.

We just signed the papers on house the day before the fire started. Escrow closes on Tuesday. So I am trying to hold back the forces of fire until Tuesday.

As I was packing the cars to bug out, all I could think of was, "Da roof, da roof, da roof is on fire. We don't need no water let da motherfucker burn." Now all these other fire songs going thru my head.

Just think, we will be trading all this for great north, land of ice and snow. Then all these songs about that came to mind.

Anyways updates at yubanet.com

stay safe brother - Drunk Monk - 09-12-2015

Hoping the best for you. Sounds terrifying.

What DM said about being safe.

we spent a long time sexting today - Drunk Monk - 09-12-2015

Texting! Stupid autocorrect.

For those of you who know my Kung fu brother Hoel, he lives near Dan. His family was evacuated and we are hoping his home survives.

Re: Fire on the mountain! - cranefly - 09-12-2015

Wow. Nasty stuff.

Good luck to Hoel. And of course Legbone. What a way to be selling a house.

You're all thinking it - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-13-2015

But I'll say it.

It's a fire sale . . . . .

Dan told me the sale closes on Tuesday - Drunk Monk - 09-13-2015

So if they can just keep it from burning down until then....

Selling it to a fireman ironically....

Re: Fire on the mountain! - El Dingo - 09-14-2015

Holy crap! I thought I had the worse luck in the world because my Giants sailboat cruise was cancelled due to weather (a slight drizzle).

Now I know I have the 2nd worst luck in the world!

Word from Dan - Drunk Monk - 09-16-2015

We've been texting like crackheads about recent events (beyond the Butte fire, a mutual good friend just underwent a triple-bypass).

From Dan:
Quote:We closed, check in the bank and fire break held

For those of you who know my friend Hoel (probably from our tournament), he lost everything. I will see him and his son this weekend. Cry

Re: Fire on the mountain! - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-16-2015

I do know Hoel and that's terrible.

Glad to hear it worked out for Dan.

Re: Fire on the mountain! - cranefly - 09-16-2015

Oh, man. Hoel.
What does he do for a living?

He's in the mmj industry - Drunk Monk - 09-17-2015

He's been working on building a farm for several years on his property.

Re: Fire on the mountain! - Legbone - 11-02-2015

So from fire to ice, I have landed up in Alaska. The mountains... I thought I knew something about hill billies, I knew nothing. These folk are so tough. I going ask Sylvia to chew me a pair pants for Christmas.

Now I carry my pistol everywhere.

One interesting story is about clamming. Ever year several people have their legs amputated because they get stuck in the mud at low tide so badly that they can not be pulled out. The only way to save them is cutting off their legs to get the out.

There so many ways to die up here. I love it.

Re: Fire on the mountain! - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 11-02-2015

Um, congratulations? I guess?

Have you gone by your neighbor's yet? To borrow some salt maybe?

Quote:Sarah Palin's Home Address in Wasilla Alaska
We thought we'd post this for anyone that would like to pay Sarah a visit

Sarah Palin's mailing address is 1140 W Parks Hwy, Wasilla, AK 99654. Sarah Palin once said she'd like to meet everybody who voted for her. Here is her address, stop in and say Hi! In the winter you can walk out onto the ice and walk up to the house.

The Palins are currently building a new mansion, You can see those pictures here. Now they'll have space to park their two planes.

From Time Magazine:

The Palin family lives on Lake Lucille on the western end of town - she's always maintained her residence here, even though the Capitol is a long flight away in Juneau. It's a perfectly Alaskan lake: still waters ringed by evergreens and saw-toothed peaks, staged beneath a wolf-colored sky. You can just make out Palin's house a stone's throw from the public launch at the Best Western Hotel, by the red and white floatplane on the small dock out front (the governor's husband is a pilot in addition to being an oil worker, commercial fisherman, prior Iron Dog snowmobile endurance race winner, and self-anointed "First Dude").

Take the Glenn Highway north out of Anchorage about 40 miles into Wasilla. Make a left at Lucas Road and follow the map above. She doesn't mind visitors, just walk right up to the house and say hello!

From Zillo blog

Sarah Palin’s house, located at 1140 W Parks Hwy, Wasilla, AK 99654 is a two-story framed structure on a couple of acres, built in 2002 with a poured concrete foundation and no basement. According to Alaska magazine, the home was designed and built by “First Dude” husband, Todd. The home has an appraised value of $552,100, according to the Matanuska-Susitana Borough real property land details.

Russia is about 1,200 miles if you look out the windows on the left. And through the trees. And past the buildings. And around the curvature of the earth.

Careful, I'm sure she can shoot. Maybe she can teach you how to clam.
