So - "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is too 'Rapey': SF Chronicle article
I had a discussion with my semi-butch lesbian co-worker about this and we were both disgusted with this new attack on historical attitudes about women, LBGT etc. that are expressed through cultural norms.
Does the derogative 'Faggot' mean The Pogue's "Fairytale of New York" make it a 'hate' song?
Do we draw a line in modern cultural sand that exonerates the Beastie Boys and other rap groups about LBGT comments as a 'primitive, uneducated statement' or do we give them a pass.
I always felt uncomfortable about (primarily) rap artists who called women 'bitches' or 'hoes' but secretly dig Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dog.
I compare this to the stupid fucking rednecks in the south defending their Confederate statues.
How do I defend my love of classic rock where women are relegated to 'Baby' status in this '#metoo' era'?
