San Diego Comic-Con
On the teal bus headed back. I went to the bus stop I’ve used in previous years but it turns out the teal line stop is on the fucking other side of the venue. That might not sound far but it’s like a mile away. If only I read the guide’s fine print.

I picked up my pass efficiently and made it to the fencer press talk but missed Bruce. I was stuck on a round table with three others from who knows what who wanted to talk about themselves more than interviewing the talent. Met Phil Andrews. He was impressed when I pointed to an AFS bag and said ‘I used to work there.’ Caught up with Rich Ting afterwards and had a good chat. Phil gave me a nice fencing pin.

Went to Tony Swatton’s talk. Met my cousin there. Watched for a bit but it didn’t hold my attention so we left to chat in the Pro room (free tea). My cousin had been going since 1990. He’s retired now but he worked for Disney and Toho as a sculptor. It was good to catch up.

Then we went to the Hollywood loves fencing talk which was a big pitch for an upcoming movie. It was well received and will make a good fodder for my report but I didn’t bother to try and connect with anyone there.  Dickinson had to cut out early because he was going to sing with Green Day. So that was a total miss. Thought about pulling my provost card and name dropping Stro & the Yeti but bailed. I was more into hanging out with my cousin.

We calmed the gaslamp which was packed and crazy. Found a deli and had a delicious tuna sammy. Then walked Bruce to the trolley (he paired ata distant stop and is driving home to LA now).

Then I walked all the way to the wrong fucking stop. Then I walked all the way back to the right fu king stop. And that’s where I am now.

Bummed I missed this

I was on the plane during it
Also bummed I missed Johnny Depp as Ebenezer at the Scrooge pop up. Word is that the Enhypen panel was packed.

I have erred graciously with my choice of hotels. Not only am I 5 miles from the venue, it’s the first stop on the shuttle teal line so I’m 40 mins in (but 20 mins back). Shower didn’t get hot. No continental breaky (just had a nice açaí bowl at the cafe and a horrid cuppa for $20). And since my partners in crime all bailed, I’m stuck with a double (maybe dm will get lucky with some Orions or TwiLeks… yeah like that’ll happen).

I’ve decided I’ve got enough for a KFM review with the fencer movie. The rest is icing. Gonna just play for the next 3 days.

Grievously not graciously

I’m on the bus. 5 hotel stops past mine (20 mins worth) whine, whine, whine. At least it gives some time for DM’s special mmedicine to kick in.

Got off the bus with 2 sailor guardians & Marge Simpson
Walked across the fucking venue again to get in!
Already limping.

In line for ballroom 20. My shin is on the verge of cramping again but I have a lovely view of the bay and the hall h line. There’s a male sailor Jupiter behind em and itsharshing his buzz

Seated in ballroom 20
They’re tracking Katseye ‘Gabriela’ - the most reggae K-pop so far.
Got a decent sets next to a latinx kogel, surely from some anime I don’t recognize.
DM needs more mmed…

Not a kogel
A cosplay for Ghosts - the character of Asher who I interviewed yesterday for the fencing film. That’s the panel following the one I’m here for.

In the House of Blues
They made me slam my sun chips that I just bought at a bodega down the street. Then they’ve been stuffing me with Cajun cornbread with spicy shrimp, flatbread pizza, Mac & cheese balls, and blood bags. I am in a reserved seat cuz I got here early.

I’ve been on FIRE today! By chance I bumped into my old friend Eric Jacobus, a stunt/fight filmmaker. He was leading a panel with Brian Le of The Furious and the creator behind 100 beavers (which has been in my queue forever)

Had a lovely Thai lunch with my writer Kurtis and his wife (who got me & Tara into our first sdcc). Bumped in my KF brother Keith. He’s gonna try for the Star Trek panel. You have to get a bracelet tonight starting at 7:30 but I’ll be here until 10 and they won’t last. Also caught up with Dave who got me into BayCon.

And saw lots of crazy comic con stuff.

Not bothering with my robe & vestX too damn hot

That bass is kicking. This club is tiny:

I am ready for some pretty boy vampire K-pop.

These vampire women keep serving me spicy shrimp and fried Mac & cheese and the bass is pounding my wiggly bits into jello. A gorgeous cosplayer just sat down next to me.

This is next level ecstasy
