You Must Take Part in Revolution -- Comics and Fighting Authoritarianism with Author Melissa Chan at SDCC 2026! 

Activist graphic novel publisher Street Noise Books is excited to spotlight author Melissa Chan at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. 

Melissa Chan is the author of You Must Take Part in Revolution (co-created with Badiucao), a graphic novel exploring the onward march of authoritarianism and the power of resistance in China and around the globe. She is an Emmy-nominated Hong Kong and Taiwanese American foreign correspondent based between Los Angeles and Berlin. She was previously posted in China until she became the first journalist in more than a decade to be expelled by the Chinese authorities in 2012. Much of her reporting examines human rights, the rise of global authoritarianism, and the defense of democracies. She has written for The New York Times, where she was nominated for a Loeb Award—business journalism's highest honor—and The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Time, The Guardian, and more. As a broadcast correspondent, she has reported for VICE News Tonight and Al Jazeera's Fault Lines. 

You Must Take Part in Revolution is an essential graphic novel for our time — a much-needed story about the consequences of today's threats to Democracy, and an inspiration for all of us in building a better future.

SDCC 2026: Petco Park unveils interactive zone, Marumart

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Downtown San Diego is beginning to gear up for San Diego Comic-Con 2026 as restaurants, public transportation and buildings transform into pop culture favorites.
Petco Park will be holding several outside activations during the 2026 convention that you can take part in without a badge.
San Diego Comic-Con takes place at the San Diego Convention Center from Thursday, July 23, through Sunday, July 26, with Preview Night on Wednesday, July 22.
Petco Park Interactive Zone
According to Petco Park Insider, the Petco Park Interactive Zone will take over the Lexus Premier Lot next to Petco Park across the Harbor Drive pedestrian bridge from the convention center.

MaruMart: The interactive zone will feature MaruMart, a pop-up immersive walk-through of a Japanese convenience store from instant ramen brand Maruchan, where you can sample products, track down rare or unexpected flavors, buy SDCC-exclusive merchandise and get photo ops with surprise giveaways.
Hello Kitty Cafe Truck: The interactive zone will also have a Hello Kitty Cafe Truck that serves sweets and exclusive 2026 merchandise — macarons, madeleines, and the oversized Chef Cookie, along with custom quarter-zips, throw blankets, mugs and totes.
KAYOU Walls of Fandom: The trading card company is making its SDCC debut with a free walk-through experience with large displays celebrating its popular card lines, including My Little Pony, K-Pop Demon Hunters, and more.
Collectors can also grab an SDCC-exclusive “Superfan Passport” and earn stamps at the walkthrough experience, at Booth #4934 inside the convention center and at a Friday night fan meetup at Tito Rick’s Garage on Imperial Avenue.
Labu’Tique Farmers Market: Want Jelly Cats, Needohs, Labubus and Squishy Toys? You can snag those viral toys and more at the Labu’Tique Farmers Market at Petco Park. 
Funko Fundays: Quest for the Grail: On Friday, July 24, Funko’s annual fan party takes over Gallagher Square in Petco Park with this year’s theme —  “Quest for the Grail – Atlantis.”
Doors open at 5 p.m. with food, live entertainment, major product reveals, prototype giveaways and exclusive Pop! figures for every attendee. Tickets are sold out. 
The San Diego Padres will be on the road during the annual convention as Comic-Con takes over Petco Park. The last home game before the convention will be Sunday, July 12, against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Padres don’t return to Petco Park until Tuesday, July 28, against the Colorado Rockies.
Keep an eye on the San Diego Comic-Con website closer to the convention as they announce the full panel schedule. Stay with FOX 5/KUSI for more off-site studio activation announcements, booth giveaways and themed pop-ups and cafes that will start showing up across downtown San Diego.

It will be exclusively available on Rain City Yellow vinyl as part of the deluxe edition and Translucent Elliot Bay Green vinyl within the Platinum package, and will not immediately be available on streaming services or digital platforms.Renowned for his fiery, melodic solos and electrifying stage presence, McCready draws inspiration from blues and rock icons such as Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. HBO Max returns to San Diego this summer with a lineup of experiential activations, screenings, and talent panels celebrating new and returning series, including STUART FAILS TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE, from Warner Bros. • From Thursday, July 23 through Saturday, July 25, HBO Max will invite fans to prove their fearlessness at the “Lanterns Training Headquarters” experience. Inspired by the setting of Rushville, Nebraska, the activation unfolds as a guided training journey where fans will receive a briefing from the Guardians and will be evaluated through a series of interactive challenges designed to reveal if they have what it takes to wear the ring. Along the way, guests will move through hands-on experiences including target practice, trust-based challenges, maze navigation, and escape‑room style mystery scenarios set within in‑world environments like a Sheriff’s office and dive bar. The experience culminates for trainees with a custom Green Lantern ring to take home, an opportunity to simulate using a Green Lantern ring on a Snapchat powered interactive mirror and the opportunity to purchase exclusive LANTERNS merch from Warner Bros.
