This is Guy Ritchie lite, or Guy Ritchie made-4-tv. It’s got his usual themes, a major bromance between Sherlock & Moriarty, rollicking fistacuffs, protags with macho punkish attitudes, some swirling cinematography, rocking modern jigs, but not much profanity or graphic violence. Sherlock iz at Oxford with Moriarity, and we meet Mycroft and Lestrade. All in all, about what you’d expect. Honestly Sherlock is up there with Spider-man when it comes to different versions of him. What I didn’t expect was a Kung Fu Princess. It’s not particularly good Kung Fu, but it’s all about Chinamaxxing right now, isn’t it (so why am I not cashing in more? Too ABC maybe).
8 eps cover one long mystery to solve. I’m 2 deep and down to watch more.
Mildly D00M recommended at this point. It’s ok so far but I’m hoping it gets better.

Ep3 opens in China. Then there’s a good plot twist and I’m slightly embarrassed I didn’t see it as it played out in ep1, but in my defense, all Chinese look the same. Well played Guy. I’m all in now. Still not overwhelmingly awesome, but entertaining in a light sorta way. The funny bits are majorly redeeming. And Colin Firth hamming it up as the painfully British Bucephalus works well.

One Ep in. Kind of fun. Sherlock the cheeky one. Nice Easter eggs of various Holmes characters over the years. I like the Oxford setting. I'll watch more.
I knew bad things were going to happen when the drink was mixed.

Seen
Stacy caught up to me in a solid binge and we watched the last two eps together, which we both enjoyed. She was amused when I produced an emei piercer (the sharp weapon that the KF princess uses) from off my desk. Been chipping on an article about them.
I’m sticking with my initial Guy Ritchie lite review, and GR lite isn’t a bad thing, just an observation. Kind of fun is spot on. It didn’t blow me away but I was consistantly entertained as long as I didn’t think to hard about it.
There was another decent twist that I would’ve seen if I was paying better attention (in retrospect it was so obvs) but it worked as a fair mcguffin. All the intro credit images fell into place. There’s plenty of room for another season and I’d tune in for it.
D00M recommended.

Thinking about it. I may. I've got a great angle. It would be an easy interview.
Won't be as good as a carpenter interview tho...

When you're right, you're right. It's such a no brainer for me. I have submitted an interview request.

Is that some sort of euphemism for Irish Iron Crotch?

I could make a documentary
I could title it 'Wood Butcher'
On second thought, it'd probably only be watched for 42 seconds in Kansas City...
Oooooh. I got an immediate reply from the PR BossWOmang...

The show is getting better. I like the Chinese princess back story. It helps fill out the story which felt pretty thin up to this point.
I kept thinking Mycroft was Mark Strong's son. Turns out he is Jeremy Iron's son.

Two eps in and enjoying it, but I kept thinking that Colin Firth now looks - and particularly sounds - very much like Hugh Bonneville.

Those press reps never got back to me about interviewing the stunt coordinator. Kinda lame. They send me invites often and this is the first I’ve accepted, just a day after it was sent out. Alas. Maybe they’ll reach out after Merc is out of retrograde.
