Milan/Cortina Olympics (2026)

I am trying to martial my enthusiasm for these games, but it is tough going. I'm embarrassed for my country and I can't think any of our athletes will receive a warm welcome at these games. It's not the Athletes fault, it is just where we find ourselves at the moment.

The one story that has captured my imagination is Lindsay Vonn. She ruptured her ACL during a crash last week. She still intends to compete. What the hell?

Not many martial events in the Winter games, unless you count biathalon.

I do enjoy the figure skating. Luge and Skeleton is pretty fun too.

Vonn is a goddess. Goddesses can do that.

But yeah, with the Stuperbowl happening this weekend at Levi's, I haven't seen much about the Winter games.

I like the cross country skiing. Especially when there are tall Nordic goddesses.

There are *Winter* Olympics? Is this new? Sounds boring.

Biathlon, but with moguls & full-auto.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

I like bobsled, luge, and skeleton. I find biathalon interesting and speed skating can be a pretty good spectacle. Curling is silly fun. Somewhere in this house is a silver cup trophy from some Canadian relative for curling.

Call me when they introduce ice fencing...

Ooh, Gold Medal round today for Mixed Couples Curling with the US involved. Plus the USA plays Canada in Hockey in the round robin. My feeling is they should skip all this preliminary crap in the women's hockey and just go right to the time where US plays Canada for the gold.

Oh man. I would watch the hell out of that.

Sad to see Goddess Vonn fall.

You got to know when to hold 'em
know when to fold 'em
know when to walk away
and know when to run

Speaking of Biathlon.....

Quote:ANTERSELVA, Italy -- A postrace interview with the bronze medal winner in the men's Olympic biathlon competition on Tuesday took an unexpected turn when he revealed in a live broadcast that he had been unfaithful to his girlfriend.

Sturla Holm Laegreid, one of Norway's top biathletes, finished third in the 20-kilometer individual race, but was full of remorse when he spoke to Norwegian broadcaster NRK at the Milan Cortina Games.
"Six months ago I met the love of my life. The world's most beautiful, sweetest person. And three months ago I made the biggest mistake of my life and cheated on her," Laegreid said, fighting back tears.

He said he told his partner a week ago about what had happened.
"I'm sure many people now see me in a different light, but I only have eyes for her," he said. "I'm not quite sure what I'm trying to say by saying this now, but sport has taken a back seat in recent days. I wish I could share this with her."
Laegreid's teammate Johan-Olav Botn shot perfectly in his Olympic debut to secure the gold medal while Eric Perrot of France, the overall World Cup leader, missed one shot and finished 14.8 seconds behind Botn to take silver. Laegreid also missed one target and was 48.3 seconds behind, taking the bronze.

Imagine that with moguls and full auto.

That would've been fire. Flaming Iron Crotch FIRE!!!

That's how you say it with a Hothenese accent. It has to do with the split lip of Taun Tauns.
