One way to make new friends is to tell artists you are going to pay them money. I've got 7 emails from people saying they want to score the movie. Which probably means, I need to finish the movie. I hope to have a rough cut/assemblage done by Friday. It's missing some big chunks on Jade Egg, Sex positions, and Qi Philosophy. But the current cut is just under 90 minutes. There is a lot of fat in there, but I've got scissors. I also need to finalize the poster design. I'm still unhappy with its current incarnation. I need to do a mock-up to show the poster designer what I want. Hiring a translator is also in the cards, unless I can convince GM Tu Daughter two to help out. Thinks are moving along. Deadline is 44 days out.

Just received the latest proof of the movie poster. I did a mock up yesterday to try and get my poster designer to understand what I was going for.
That didn't seem to work. At some point one of us is going to kill the other. I've used this guy in the past. He does really good work at a very reasonable price. He did the Bad Ass Bunny logo, for instance. And yet, I'm about to go for my fifth or sixth iteration of the design.

Mind you, we had in-house artists that were on salary, so re-dos didn't cost anything.
I should've sent you to Patrick. He's freelance now and has laid out a lot of IC over the years.

I've had 13 responses on Mandy (A film crew hiring site) to my job listing for a composer. It's been gratifying and puzzling. Some of the respondents are award winners
At this point, I've been deep in the Iron Crotch cave by myself. No one knows but me what I'm up to. And I'm not really clear. I showed a twenty minute cut of the film to everyone figuring I would get a lot of thanks, but no thanks from the composers once they saw what they were up against. But, no. All the respondents have been really positive about what they saw. One guy said even if I don't hire him, he feels it's a film that has to be made. Another already scored seven minutes of the film and sent it back to me. He did that in less than 24 hours. Of course, the cynic side constantly asks do these poor bastards really need this not adequate recompense? I'll do interviews with a couple of them and hire one of them on Friday.
