First thing I must let in the painters to do some final touch ups. Then I must do an interview for YMAA and I’m not sure if that’ll be here in svale or home in the Cruz. It’s supposed to rain probably when I’ll take hwy17 and Darth needs new front tires and brakes.

Am I the only D00Mbro left with my nose to the grindstone? And I have the smallest nose…
3 telemeets, plus Yuki gets groomed today so he’ll smell nice for a few days. Then iaido. Then hope the sky is clear enough to see the blood moon (gonna be cloudy I know but there’s always hope).

I could talk about my every ninety minutes ice therapy, my one handed typing, and calls to lending institutions.

Normally I'm off campus Thursday, but since the admin has the flu, I had to go in to unlock some doors. As soon as I got home, I saw an email asking me to let the new student assistant into the office (no key yet for him) at 9am. I saw the email at about 8:55. Went back to let him in. Got there at 9:12. Not too bad, just annoying. Much more difficult because major downtown streets are closed for an NVIDIA conference.
Hitting Rasputin later to check the bargain bin.

I'm at the fruit factory Tues-Thurs. people are actually in the office at the same time. There's a bit of a feeling that we are a community again.

Well bummer. I saw the moon before 11 and it was in half shadow. With patchy clouds, I was hopeful. Then around 11:30 it just went dark. No moon. No blood. Nothing.
Oddly, I have today off. We were planning to go to Mendo for the weekend but the trip didn’t come together so we bailed. I already had a swap day approved - last Sunday - so I just kept today off. I have yoga in 7+ hours, then I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself. I was hoping it might be clear so I could read something non-work on the beach but my liephone says 95% chance of rain. It’s supposed to clear up by the afternoon but it’ll likely be cold like yesterday. Maybe I’ll just nap.

Had a good workout this morning. Made it work and walked to the post office with no rain.

I had a good yoga session this morning. Thought I might go downtown but I don’t know what for. Maybe I’ll just watch tv & nap.

You sir, are a feckn enabler.
I just spent a generous Amazon gift card that Master Grace Wu gave me for my birthday on a new iaito. It's sort of a reward for ranking Ikkyu. I have many katanas already: a refurbished gunto (blade courtesy of our own D00Maestro), a refurbished katana with an Oscar Kolumbatovich blade that Fred gave me, two perks from Tiger Claw - a stainless steel one that I blunted for iai and a 'demo' aluminum-bladed p.o.s. that is my go-to (our dojo, like many modern iai schools, prefers aluminum blunt blades - it's something I wasn't too keen on in my youth, but nowadays, I'm happy to work lighter and safer), a ninja-to (same one I got to accessorize my D00M ninja suit)... I think that's it. The new one is a modest, aluminum blade. A decent iaito would set me back $300-600. This one I just ordered is only $150, but it has a more traditional handle wrapping and hopefully is designed for tachikaze (sword wind - that cool slicing sound that an iaito makes when the cut is true).
It keeps raining on my day off so I'm just being lazy, watching TV, snacking & napping. I am fighting the urge to write.

Oh come on now. What have I ever enabled you to do? Other than iron crotch I mean. I guess that’s a big one tho…
Well, I did nothing for my swap day off pi day, just binged tv, napped (which I can now do simultaneously) and ate snacks. Yoga was good. Dog walk was ok. We just had Yuki groomed so we’re trying to keep him away from muddy dog parks for a while.
Today I have Kung Fu and then nothing. Maybe I’ll write. Or maybe I’ll binge nap & snack again. It’s the ides so I best beware.

Went for a walk. It was gorgeous around the Lair. Well go out again later. Sorely tempted to navigate the muddy trail to see the flowing creek. Saner heads prevailed.
