I could show pictures of the blood leaking out from the bottom of the nail. Would that make me cool?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Holy crap, the tinnitus is off the charts tonight. Can you all hear it?!? Borderline painful. Usually I imagine it's just cicadas and ignore it, but this is a clip out of 3 body problem or something...

I've attenuated to my tinnitus. I only hear it when something reminds me of it.
Like now...

Mine (hearing loss related) is not too bad; I usually only notice it when it's really quiet, and then only sometimes. The hearing loss is the really annoying thing.

The hearing loss is the really annoying thing. I'm *this* close to getting hearing aids. Kaiser doesn't cover them (cheap bastards) so I may try Costco. An acquaintance got his there. Cheaper than full-boat Kaiser.

Our Kaiser covered part of Christina's, I think about half. Her hearing is worse than mine, despite having spent less time in a band, so she got expensive ones. I'd probably go cheaper. I think it's about time for me.

Went down the hearing aid rabbit hole with my mom. That got ridiculously expensive, so much so that she was afraid to wear them because she worried she'd lose them, which defeated the purpose. She has a pair now and they barely help.
My hearing is trashed. So many concerts and explosions (firecrackers whilst lion dancing). I do have a pair of custom fit plugs but I don't use them enough. Part of it is that I've stopped listening to a lot. So much noise.

There's been this strange buzzing/crackling noise in my work niche. I thought it was my Mac. It sounded like it was coming from my right side monitor (I have two monitors for my work Mac). It was bugging the crap out of me all morning. Sounded like static or a short. I was tinkering with my monitor, rebooting, trying to troubleshoot it.
Behind my right side monitor are my dry erase wall calendars, velcroed to the wall so I can alternate two months. A bug got trapped behind one, and the buzzing was its struggles. I blame this on my faulty ability to echolocate. I was going to post this in the mercNret thread to elicit more PPFY superlatives, but my tinnitus has been bugging me since tg mentioned his on this thread, so I'm posting it here.

I did some hearing tests over a couple years and my right side has some major frequency issues, but via bone conduction tests they determined that the eardrum works, it's just sound isn't getting there, so a hearing aid isn't likely to do much.
I was also looking at getting modern hearing aids for my mom at the time, so I hade some good discussions with the audiologist. The Biden administration opened up hearing aids for over the counter sales, but according to the audiologist, what you can get over the counter is equivalent to reading glasses, keyed to various levels. So it may be an improvement over no aid, but it won't be specifically tuned to your particular hearing. --tg |
