Hope you’re feeling better KB. A lot of crap has been going around. I got sick twice last month. 2024 is off to a challenging start.
I bailed on that visiting KF master. Sad to have missed him but that would’ve taken more energy than I have in the tank right now. Worked on my mom’s house (lots of yard cleaning), fussed with Stacy’s bars that I’m supposed to be removing but keep hitting obstacles (doesn’t help that my tools are in a sorry state. Tried to do some art but my right hand is messed up.
I’m not sure what is going on with my right hand. It’s really nervy on the chopping edge, like my whole wrist tendon is a funny bone. Zings me more and more. Maybe I broke it? That happened to me once before - I broke my wrist (very minor) but it didn’t bother me excessively until the final healing process bits. It impedes my ability to use a pen.
Today, it’s finish up a few things here, head back to the Cruz, work - a carpenter is supposed to be coming to finish the sauna - then maybe that One Love movie - depends on how Stacy feels after the day’s work. Happy Valentines Ash Wednesday God of Wealth day!

Dammit. I didn't think I asked for a deferral. Must've been something I said in the questionnaire...

Turns out I got COVID. Called in sick today. Christina is worried she's got it - she has avoided it so far. That's what I get for letting students into my space.

I hope it stays mild and you test negative quickly.

Oh crap. Sorry to hear. You've had it before, right?

As I said in that thread, yes. I had it in early March in 2020. My mom was in Stanford Hospital and I went to see her and then got sick. It was so early that I just thought I had a terrible flu - no tests available to the public at the time - but then figured it was COVID since I had high fever, terrible chills and lingering lung weakness. I also started having Reynaud's Syndrome in my fingers after that. I occasionally had it before, but only very rarely; now it takes much less to bring it on. It's part of winter that I now hate.

Hey now. I can't even remember my own posts around here.
Just did my web research on Raynauds. I have a similar issue in my palms but I've always attributed it to a failed backpacking assault on Mt Whitney when we got hailed off the mountain. I was a teen and froze my hands pretty badly so I've always assumed my numbness was post-frostbite. Of course, nowadays my neuropathy covers up any numbness with tingling.

Today is Stacy’s birthday so I must pick up her cake this morning between 3 telemeets. Also a carpenter is supposed to come for thr sauna - allegedly the lead carpenter for the boardwalk. I might skip iaido to take Stacy to dinner, but she might opt to go to sf and visit Tara instead. Hopefully there’s a break in the storm.

Happy Fri-yay!
It’s a work day and a last dog walk before the storm day.

Walk your dog in the rain, slacker. Are you on trial? Did you finish the sauna?

I shall. No choice. Yuki must eliminate and can’t use the toilet.

Nope. If you read my thoughtful, carefully crafted post, you’d know I was deferred.

Nope. Our 4th contractor plans to finish it Monday when there’s a 70% chance of rain. He is the lead carpenter at the boardwalk tho. Fingers crossed.

Now, I see the bit about deferral.
This entire time, you've been saying Sauna and I kept seeing Hot Tub.

That’s funny. Our next door neighbor thought the same. It looks like a fat outhouse. They were confused because they can see it from their 2nd story window.

Kung Fu then sheltering from the storm then we have tix to a sitar recital at ucsc. I’m trying to convince Stacy that we should go to Namaste for dinner beforehand for a total Indian experience.
The sauna is functioning. The roof is up in a temporary way (that first contractor fucked up and some needs to be redone before the roof is permanently attached) and the trim still needs to be done to seal it, but Stacy fired it up last night and was quite satisfied. Ah. The posh like for me. P. O. S. H. Posh!
