I was tasked to review this for Den but Netflix didn’t give us the screener until today and tomorrow I’m completely booked so I had to bang this out quickly.

I’m just going to post my notes. Hopefully my review is accepted and you can read about that Friday.

This is D00M recommended btw, at least for those of us who still have a taste for ultravi.

Is this a sequel?

It's not.

It's rumored to be a sequel to Concrete Utopia, S. Korea's foreign film submission to the Oscars (didn't make the cut). I really want to see that. It's got a similar premise - mega-quake destroys Seoul and the story is post-apocalypse. Plus it's from the same studio. Even Wikipedia says it's a sequel.

But the filmmakers say it's completely original.

It's not.

It's more of a rip off. But it goes somewhere different. It's really just an action film, loosely echoing some popular tropes in K-cinema. If you don't know K-cinema, it may come off more original. Mostly it's mighty Don Lee punching the crap out of a lot of hooligans. And that's fine entertainment in my book.

Y'all gotta get on the Don Lee train. He's a fun action hero. Burly brutal fun. This is an ok place to get on board.

My editor asked afterwards how I’d rate this on 1-5 scale. I said action = 4; plot = 3.

Just perfect for a film Greg will hate and PPFY will enjoy.

From what angle?

Wait! NO! Don't answer that.

Don't want to know. I'll just take your word for it.
