Billy Nighy stars as the dying bureaucrat who finally decides to do something with the time he has left. Living is based on the Kurosawa film Ikiru.

The film is very slow and quiet as Nighy's Rodney Williams tries to decide what to do with his remaining time. There are just appalling quiet British scenes in the departments for urban planning. Probably not a great film to see if your feelings are trending downward.

I think I was confusing A Man called Otto with Living.

Ikiru was an odd film. It was very sentimental and heartfelt and I was all in until the death. Then there was a bit that was too long about survivors ruminating over why he did what he did. Srsly? I mean we just watched a whole film expressing his motivations. 

At least that’s how I remember it. I think I only saw it once and that was years ago.
