Season 3 writing continues it's decent. Every episode begins with a catty recap narrated by one of the main characters. I find the tone-shift off putting.

So far, the characters are acting slightly out of character. They're killing off some important characters, but I don't think it's executed well (pun) and some of the episodes resolve too conveniently.

In this season, following Gully's transformation into Captain Blighty, there are more and more PWE - persons with enhancements, or "PDubs". There's a growing distrust of the PDubs by the general public. Martha and crew are in charge of finding/recruiting/protecting these folks for the government. It's an X-men mutant story line. The larger Alfred story arc is lacking..

It feels like they're quickly trying to make this season the transition between the dark Alfred youth story and the old Alfred Batman butler story in a short jump. He needs to get to America/Gotham, start butlering, and they have to introduce Batman. None of that has come up yet, so a lot of jettisoning of the current plot lines will have to be done I guess.

8 eps in and we've consumed all the available episodes and now have to wait for the weekly dribble.

Quote:The Cancelation of the Show Called Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman's Butler
The DC series that premiered on that one streamer before moving to HBO Max is now gone.

We hardly knew ye, Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler on HBO Max, formerly known as just Pennyworth on Epix. The origin series for the Wayne family’s confidant and eventual keeper of the Batcave is coming to an end after its third season. Wait, it got three seasons?

The news was reported by Variety and other trades. The series premiered on Epix (now called MGM+) in 2019 and ran there for two seasons before making the jump to HBO Max in the fall of 2022; it featured Jack Banon (The Imitation Game) as Alfred Pennyworth in his action-packed days as a spy during the mod era—decades before he became Batman’s babysitter and father figure. It was compelling enough to warrant three seasons, with the Wayne familypopping up as supporting characters, including baby Bats! Alas, under the new DC Studios regime, Pennyworth won’t be part ofthe revamped DC Universe of film and television. Please, no one go and ask James Gunn why.

I made it about half way through season 2.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
