Beckett! Stana Katic does a British accent to portray WWII real life heroine Vera Atkins as she trains and manages the first female spies, Noor Khan and Virginia Hall. ‘Twas a serviceable war spy flick, a tad stilted in its pacing and dialog but an interesting bit of history that I had t heard before. I enjoyed seeing Stana again. I started watching Absentia for her but couldn’t get through it. Her accent started out okay but towards the end she dropped out of it a lot. The rise of the nazis is always chilling and it struck me that you can tell the villains of history by whoever has the most open carry guns. Most of the violence is off screen or implied. It’s more about the struggles these women overcame.
I tend to like period spy movies better now because the modern stuff always defaults to computers. The pre-computer age spies had more solid state tools. It feels more feasible.
Not particularly D00M recommended except for those of us still burning a candle for Beckett. Stana is hawt. This is a middling showcase of her talents tho.
