I thought we had all settled? But the more I look around the more I see this is one big lie. It seems at the moment all of our lives are in a state of change, whether by choice or by circumstance. How did this happen? Why is this happening at this particular time? Did the Gods decide to give our fish tank a tap to see our reactions?

It's curious to me that so many of us are experiencing change at the same time. It could be that we are all of a similar age so our preplanned crises are happening at the same times. Most of us are dealing with infirm parents. Our jobs are disrupted. We are all facing big new chapters.

After years of tranquility, I guess it's good that things aren't quite stable.

I think it is just our place in the cycle. The Parent Thing is near universal with my friends who are near our age. Ditto “retirement” or lack thereof, chronic health issues, and the growing body count.

That was actually paraphrasing Buddha, not me.

I figured. You usually aren't that pithy.

It's not the change so much as the rate of change that caught my notice.

Did you just call the Buddha pithy?

And I'm hecka pithy.  It's all about the pith.  I should get a pith helmet.  Maybe I'll just steal Scapino's.

DOOM does seem kinda messed up right now.  In flux, like you say.
