I'm more broken than you
#4: "Castle Highland" does not exist anywhere, except in the blasted, twisted imagination of one DM. It's where his mind goes while he is on display in a SOMA nightclub, just so much meat.

#5: "Tingle Palms". Heh.

#6: Greg, don't watch the original "Singing Detective". I mean please do, if you haven't -- it's brilliant -- but Sargasso has cousins there, I think.

I have been far too depressed about my cataracts, double failing cornea transplants, esophageal constricture, failed the swallow test( of course, but then again I have never been a swallower). Gene is right I need to stay current on the forum. I feel way better now. BTW, my pill count per day is up over 15, with two eye drops and one injectable. Good news only one pending emergency surgery.

Not sure where the grampa thread is but thinking about my grandparents, the drooling, dementia, surgical scars, inability to eat solid food, failed vision and hearing, arthritis etc I am just about where I need to be.

Legbone, I'm only around 5 pills/day -- you win. I thought Alaskans mainly succumbed to bear attack, gunshot wounds, and alcohol poisoning (the "Nome Triple-Play" being the preferred).

Dang I'm only on two. I have a bunch of optional rx & otc but I don't take them daily, only as needed.

Well I keep forgetting to blink and my eye have frozen open. Which in a way is good, I can see the bears coming. And carry a bear gun. There is a rather steep sin tax on alcohol, so Alaskans stick to meth, heroin and spice. We have a special room at the ER called the spice rack. 3 recliners, four point restrains and security guard at the door.

Spice? Are you living on Dune?

Bartholomew Sargasso please meet Betamethasone Valerate!

Yes, I'm rubbing the lotion on my skin because I really don't want the hose again.

Actually, there was about two paragraphs of side effects from BV that made me want to just live with  BS.

I'm at the two-week point in applying Fluorouracil (effudex) cream to spots on my nose, forehead, and scalp.  Lady Cranefly is glad I'll be stopping with the nose and forehead today, as those areas now look like bases that Rickey Henderson has slid into too many times (an obscure baseball reference).  I'll continue the spots on the scalp for a third week.

I was leaning towards seeing a specialist, as I suspect one of the spots on my scalp has gone to the dark side (I had one major surgical removal up there some 12 years ago, which is why my hair stands up weird towards the front).  But when I consulted my doctor, she just had me come in to get photos, and the dermatologist looked at them and emailed me saying, "Actinic keratosis."  Well, I knew that.  She recommended liquid nitrogen or this cream.  I opted for the cream.

We'll see how that one spot on the scalp behaves once I'm done.  Always a bit skeptical of these simplistic explanations like, "Effudex eliminates unhealthy cells and leaves you with healthy skin."  Sounds a lot like cosmetic advertisements.

Anyway, onward and upward, or spiraling in an unknown direction, as the case may be....

Okay, that's not new.  It's DS9, which was make-believe from the late 90s.  But maybe in the future if we live near a wormhole, it could happen.

My spot is in a very unsexy place, my inner shin.  The tea tree oil and silvadene keep teasing me like they are making progress, but the spot remains.   Confused

One spot? That's all you got?

It's not psoriasis. The dermatologist took about a second to tell me that. I hope she tells the ad generator on Facebook so I can stop get the psoriasis ads.

What it is is Granuloma Annulare! Where psoriasis is on the outer layer of the skin, this is just underneath. They don't know what causes it, of course. They kind of know what cures it: steroid cream or ingesting steroids. She actually said she could do injections into each of the spots but given the extent of the patches on my body, I gave that a hard pass.

So, more lotion on the skin. It doesn't really hamper me in anyway except that I'm not going to wear the beach to the bikini this year. I was mostly worried about psoriatic arthritis but that is no longer an issue. It's just unsightly red blotches for me.

I checked Wikipedia. It's a fairly rare disease occurring more often in females than males. And it is associated with Diabetes. No real cure. The red areas can persist of upwards of 20 years with patients over 50, so I've got that going for me.

Wow!  Rickey Henderson was all over that lady!
May the trio of us continue to have skin until, well, we don't.

I'll be sloughing off any day now.

Plus, my skin is fine. It's the layer underneath.

I'm pretty sure this whole thread is TMI.

Did I mention Granuloma Annulare is Diabetes related? So, you have that to look forward to.
