we skipped the balls ritual at saturday's gathering. i can't think past this weekend yet, so i'm working on t-day weekend. i should be able to get there - dying to see cranefly's new place too (even if it's not so new now) - i might have to come late.

i'll try to pick up hanzo, if i can find it on such short notice. you know, i think it was hk who told me about hanzo. in fact, i think he told me just as yeti, hk and i were about to sit down to see some samurai movie double feature - we didn't know what the first one was. hk started talking about hanzo, but couldn't remember the name. it turned out that it was hanzo. actually, now that i think about it, it might not have been hk... i can't remember now...

I should be able to make it as well.

Is this the official Holiday gathering with presents, cheese balls and DUIs?

I hope it's the official holiday extravaganza. But since when is anything official in the Brotherhood?

i ahve some possible candidates: rasputin has all the lone wolf and cubs - have you guys ever seen the originals or just shogun assassin? rasputin also has kekko kamen, which might be a good follow up to cutie honey. any interest in these?

I could bring 'Wild Zero'.

It's sort of 'Lock and Loll High School' + 'Rand of the Dead'

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0267116/

User comment quote:

"Wild Zero is not a perfect movie. It is beyond perfection. It has transcended into a realm of unbelievable excellence. If I rated things on a scale of stars, 1-10, it would receive a million billion.

Weak acting? Goofy special effects? These comments are probably from people who thought Braveheart and Gladiator were good movies. Wild Zero is the type of movie that is impossible to criticise. You watch Wild Zero and your blood will pump, your adrenaline will ransack your brain, your tender--I have said too much"

Okay, I'll bite.
What is the color, shape and form of an official -- or unofficial -- holiday
extravaganda?
Oops. Shape and form mean pretty much the same thing. But
you understand my gist.

So here's my sitch:
I have to take Tara to trapeze which is in Oakland from 5-6. I'll pass her to Stacy at her office in Menlo, then scurry down to Mtn View, which would put me there about an hour or so after the designated meeting time. Feel free to start with out me (especially if it's Mr. & Mrs. Smith). Of course, Stacy has a doula client that's ready to pop at any moment, which could completely change my plans for everything for the weekend. Oh bother...

Also, travelling through a strange dimensional rift, I unexpectatedly found myself in Japantown at the Kinukiniya mall on Saturday. As anyone into Japanese cinema knows, that mall has the greatest selection for film nippon. I did find Hanzo, but only in the complete three-DVD boxed set. I've only seen one of the Hanzo's, not the other two, and while I was very tempted, $60+ was just too rich for my blood at that very moment. According to the guy behind, Hanzo has only been released in the boxed set so far. Sounds like we got our video covered anyway. I still might shell out for some Lone Wolf and Cub....

As for holiday extravaganza, I think Mark is still tramatized from one of his first DOOM gatherings when he didn't bring some sort of gift thing for everyone and the Kennance busted out these really nice engraved DOOM lighters. Dang, what became of that? Anyway, it looks like Greg already copped to getting us all Napoleon Dynamite keychains (better than Frannk McClusky DVDs). I already jumped the gun with the shirts last time, so don't expect anything from me except illicit things that I always bring, and maybe a reach-around. Maybe.

I'll be coming back from Reno (Dee Dee's family) on Saturday.

Hopefully we get back early enough so i can plug myself into the recharge unit and be at optimal awareness and ready for anything Saturday evening.

I don't even want to know where you got that pic.

All this time, in my messed-up mind, I've been thinking that we were gathering this Friday, not Saturday. I have no idea why the date was so dyslexic, but Saturday is actually easier for me.

And I have acquired Kekko Kamen, for your viewing pleasure. I only know one person who has been exposed to Cutie Honey, and let me quote him: "Cutie Honey is to Kekko Kamen like Powerpuff girls is to the Debbie does Dallas"

See you all Saturday.

Okay, here's my thinking.
I could order some pizza, veggie and otherwise, along the lines
of the last outing. I'm guessing enough for 5 or 6 people. Delivery
time of, say, 7? Oh, and Lori will be here. Working in her room or watching the flicks
as well -- not certain. Hope that's kosher.

I'll have some beer and maybe some wine. For those with harder
tastes, you'll need to bring it.

Oh, and I'm renting a blow-up bouncy playhouse.

Don't forget to cover everything in plastic. This will be a Doom inaguaral event at the Cranefly manse and you know what happens at inagaural. Did John Schmidt ever get the insurance money after we inaguarated at his place. I'm sure it will be fine.
