Based on the movie, The Gentleman by Guy Ritchie, The Gentlemen broadens on that world. Eddie comes back from being a UN peacekeeper to be at his dying father's bedside on the family estate. That would be the end of Eddie being in the army. Turns out there is one of the marijauna farms underneath the estate and it is where the estate makes its money. Next thing you know, Eddie needs to raise 8 million pounds to pay off his brother's debts.
The show doesn't have the flash and quick patter of the usual Guy Ritchie production, despite the fact Ritchie directed the first two episodes. It's kind of an average show. I'll watch some more to see if it picks up.

I was amused. It was a slow start but it built up to the chicken bit and that redeemed e1 for me. Plus I’m kinda crushing on Susie Glass. All the growers I know irl are shrewd hippies. A shrewd English woman is working for me.
I felt it had a lot of the licks & chops of Ritchie, formatted to fit our tv screens. But that’s only e1. I shall watch more.

E2 started right up at the sanguineous level where we left off and delivered a solid start. The ep slowed down for a bit, then picked up momentum again, and kept me entertained at its quirky humor.
I’m down with this show so far. Giancarlo is killin it. So is Kaya.

Ep03 The most Guy Ritchie episode and one he didn't direct. Elder brother continues to be a screw up. A lot of pot goes missing and I'm pretty sure I know who stole it. Eddie has to steal a car which leads to all sorts of complications. Lady Sabrina really wants her boys out of the crime business. I'm waiting for Vinnie Jones to go off.
A good episode. Lots of sanguinicity for DM

Ep04 The formula for each episode is Edward commits a crime that goes horribly wrong. In this case, he approaches another land rich cash poor Brit about using his land for a grow house. This was an even more Guy Ritchie episode than episode 03. I feel bad that Jimmy is about to get screwed again and not in a good way. I'm waiting for the Vinnie Jones and Lady Sabrina hookup.

Indeed yes, e3 had some satisfying sanguineousness, but only one scene really (although executed by and on some good characters for this ep.
Jimmy is one of the better stoner characters I’ve seen in recent years. I mean I know a few guys that remind me of him. His explanation of what happened was hysterical. Bit of a spoiler with what you said about him in e4, but not surprising given how e3 ended.
Geoffrey the groundskeeper is another great character. And Susie is still quite entertaining.
The jumpscare bus accident I’ve seen in something else very recently. Can’t remember what tho…

Ep05 The Pikeys! If it's Guy Ritchie you know we have to see the Travelers eventually. They were a good bit of fun. I did not like how Susan and Edward got the info because haven't we done that bit a lot? Things are getting better.
Ep06 Edward wants out and feels trapped. Plus there is boxing. Finally we get to the hinted at machinations that all will be made clear later. Plus, I think the show becomes Susan show.
Sorry about the spoiler.

4 - That was a good twist that I didn’t see coming at all with the blackmail scandal. The crown jewel was funny but I thing a dog would turn its nose up at the formaldehyde.
5 - I liked the poteen reference because I was just talking about that at the dog park (St paddy’s day conversation). Liked the Pikeys too. The nod to Geoffrey and Lady Sabrina’s past was well played.
Still enjoying this show, so much so that I’m sad that there are only 3 eps left:

All done. I did guess who the nemesis behind it all was but that wasn't too hard. The whole show was solid. Not superlative but I will be interested to see where we go from here. I think Edward has to kill Freddy in the next season.

E6 Well that got complicated. Nice twists & double crosses.
E7 Even more complicated. Great call back. Eager to see how this ends.
E8 Ha! That worked for me too. A lot came together in the end. A consistently entertaining show.
I’d be down for a second season if this gets renewed.
D00M recommended.

Morning afterthought - SPOILER ALERT - I'm glad Eddie and Susan didn't hook up in the end. There was great chemistry, made greater by not defaulting to some needless romance.

Exactly. Just like us.
Wait no, that would likely make me Susie.*
But that frenemy tension makes it work.
*Please refrain from any DM/Jimmy comparisons. Too close to home right there...
