That '90s Show
I watched some of the original series. it was one of the last sitcoms that I followed for a bit but not completely. When it got syndicated, I often caught eps randomly late at night. The smoky basement table bits were nostalgic (to DM’s 80s). I seem to recall there was a That 80s Show reboot that failed. But maybe that was a hallucination from too much time spent around that smoky basement table.
This reboot knows that the key was to bring back the original cast and show us where they are 20 years later. That stuff works ok. Eric & Donna are married with a teen daughter named Leia (Eric & Donna remain the most unlikely sitcom couple akin to Leonard & Penny). Leia is a nerd and quickly meets a circle of new friends. Then this is about the next gen, the kids, and that didn’t work for me. The kids were stilted like a Disney kid show. Leia will stay with Red and Kitty for the summer, so the setting will be the same. And the kids found a stash in some of Eric’s old stuff but after 20 years that would be so dry. Just stick with the original cast. From the preview, it looks like all the major character will return, even Tommy Chong (like he has anything else to do but sell paraphernalia now).
Eps are on 30 min so I’ll probably watch more. Not D00M recommended unless you watched the original and I suspect none of you did but me. Only half of the extant D00Mers can relate to the smoky basement table and the others might be above such sitcoms (or at least not watch as much tv as me).

I caught a few of the original episodes back in the day. I thought Laura Prepon was very attractive but Kushton's character was annoying and I usually disdain him (Ooooh, review foreshadowing) I've been thinking about seeing the new show but then I think it had better be really good. Your review tends to say no.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Totally agree. I liked Laura more than Mila.
Maybe wait until I've watched a few more eps and decide. The premiere ep wasn't bad because we gets to see the key players of the original cast. They're only 30 mins long so I'll watch a few more...

Never watched the original and can't stand Kutcher (except for Open Season, but that's just his voice). And that prank show was just mean.

E2 repeated the smoky basement table scene. It was dumb. Tommy Chong & Fez make cameos. Those were ok but I think I’m done.
There’s a character that’s Kutcher’s character’s son and it’s a lookalike kid that does a bad impression of him - it’s intolerable if you disdain Kutcher. Be forwarded.

Christina just heard Cheech & Chong on a podcast (Smart Set I think) and said they were both articulate and thoughtful. I had no idea.
