I started this in my Jimmy Wang Yu binge. Finally got around to finishing it. It’s a cop-deep-cover in prison costarring Jackie, Sammo, and Andy Lau. I remember not liking it much because there’s not too much Jackie shenanigans. Seeing it again, there are some decent Jackie moments, most notably his pool trick shots because they are real - no way to fake those like that back then. Jimmy is quite good in this - better than I remember. Sammo and Andy are mediocre. It’s a middling jail tale, with totalitarian guards, nooB hazing, gang feuds, and bloody atrocities - lots of baton beat downs, typical of the genre. It fails in that it never quite decides what sort of story it wants to be, common for Hong Kong cinema of the period.
