It started off strong but then petered out. I think people loved it because it had echoes of so many movies from the 1980s. The character I found most annoying was Winona Ryder. She just seemed to have set her acting to screech all the time.

tg, for a 'puter guy, you could've been a little more specific: http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...9#pid23329
I got an ep and a half in yesterday. It's okay so far - not blowing me away or anything. I'm not as annoyed by Wynona as you guys are. I prolly should be. Maybe she gets worse?
Will there be swordfights?

PS: this was cute, too, but don't watch it until you finish.

I was going to bail but there was a reference to MK Ultra on the microfilm in ep 3. I luv MK Ultra stories. I've always wanted an MK Ultra lid. That better pay out.
Actually I like Wynona's character best so far. Well, her and 11.

I rather enjoyed that. I liked The Get Down better just because of Shaolin Fantastic and the seedy promoter guy, plus having a lot of male characters get sexually abused was refreshing. Well, maybe that's not the best word to use there, but you know what I mean.
ST was amusing in that same retro way as TGD although a different time and culture. Perhaps that's the new Netflix formula. I loved the soundtrack - even more than all the film references tg mentioned in his review, the music brought me back to the MQ6 daze. And of course the D&D references were funny. It was fairly predictable by the halfway point, but still enjoyable. Wynona worked for me and the girl who played 11 is one to watch.
I might watch season 2 if it happens.
Thanks for the Fallon vid, tg. That was the perfect epilogue.

Started watching this last night, and about 4 episodes in, to where they find the body in the lake, just after Winona flees. Yes, Winona is bad. Her performance works fairly well, but she is just not a good actress. Have to see if they can tie things up well. I can't see this going more than two seasons without going astray.

Stranger Things season 3
I miss the 11 with short hair.2 episodes in. Bad things are happening. Lots of Romero nods.

Stranger Things Stranger Live Experience in a super strange venue.

Hard pass. Not that I'm scared or anything. But if I came face-to-face with a screeching Winona, I'd lose my shit.

Yup. I’ve never been inside. Have you?
I was tempted when they were doing shows but nothing ever enticed me enough to make the effort.

I really wanted to take a tour, but never did.

I never did go back and finish Season 3. I probably should. But life is short. We have started Season 4 without seeing the second half of Season 3. Most of the first episode was trying to figure out who is who and how did that relate to season 3. I know a few things from having seen articles about the show, but not enough. I believe tQ is worse off than I am. I think the big problem is the kid stars of the show are all so much older. It's been three years since they shot the last season but only a couple of months have transpired in the Stranger Things universe. Teen kids grow fast.
All that being said, we eventually had enough threads to finish the episode and the show is quite bloody and horrifying in a good way. Lots of really creepy things centered around one character I do not remember at all. But oh well.
The kids are now in High School. Have the team has moved to another town but they are all talking about getting together. There are even some divisions in the Hawkins group as one set plays D&D while the other has joined the Basketball team.
Again, the show is a big nostalgia fest. Look how exciting it is for Winona Ryder's character to have a cordless phone!
We shall keep watching.
