Ever wonder how Calvin and Hobbes got started? Ever wonder why it went away? This is the documentary for you. It's the director's quest to trace the story of Mr. Waterson without ever talking to him. They interview all the people associated with him, though. It doesn't really add anything to the myth of Waterson although it did drive home the fact that there has never been a licensing agreement for Calvin and Hobbes merchandise.
Oddly enough, after seeing the documentary about the reclusive never to be seen again cartoonist, I saw this article on my twitter feed. The author of Pearls before Swine comic convinced Watterson to do some of the panels for his strip. And lo, the missing cartoonist reappeared for a brief glimpse.
