If you want to see Tom Hanks get pistol whipped and rifle butted a lot, I wouldn't blame you and this film is for you. The beginning is kind of interesting to get a peek on what it might be like to sail huge cargo ships. The rest is rather predictable if you paid any attention to the news. It had potential to be more tense, more claustrophobic like Das Boot, but it spent more time trying to show how heroic Tom was.
I found myself rooting for the pirates. It's only four guys with some guns - one doesn't even have any shoes - and it takes three U.S. warships, drones, helicopters and a huge team of navy seals to get them. Those pirates were bad ass.
It was a day of being T's chauffeur so S and I ducked into a theater to kill some time. This was what was convenient. Not always the best way to chose a flick.
If Hanks gets an Oscar nod for this, I'll get seasick.
