"The Ocean at the End of the Lane" by Neil Gaiman
#1
A friend of mine described this as Neil Gaiman-lite. I enjoyed it very much. It's really, really beautifully written. The blurb/description said it was about a man recall his childhood friendship with an unusual girl in the neighborhood, and hinted at a slightly fantastic/paranormal element. That's like describing a gourmet meal that took hours to prepare and to consume with tremendous enjoyment as "having dinner."
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
