From the guy who did Donnie Darko. Still playing with some of the same themes.
A near future - actually it was made in 2006 and the then near future that the movie takes place in was July 2008 - Sci-Fi movie (was Donnie Darko Sci-Fi?)
Like Darko, a little confusing - even if you pay attention. The title is appropriate. It feels like a SoCal movie, kinda like Repo Man. I found the cast to be very distracting. The Rock, the ex-SNL players. The guy from Mad TV, the guy from Highlander...the guy who you are constantly waiting to hear him say "Inconceivable!". It's hard enough to follow the plot without the "Oh yeah, that's the guy from <blank>" factor.
I think it finally resolves itself in the end. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either.
