This was a well cast and well acted. The sets and costuming were great. The characters and the story really build well over the three seasons. Timothy Oliphant is the upstanding but flawed citizen that moves to the Dakota territory to start a Hardware business. His nemesis is Al Swearingen who runs one of the local saloons. But there are bigger issues besides their personality conflict. Most episodes stand on their own, but the shows story arc is long and well thought out.
There's rough language, throat cutting, shootings, hangings, boobies, lots of muck and dirt. If you get it on DVD, some of the extra features about set dressing and wardrobe are fun.
The series really drew me in. It took a couple of episodes, but I was hooked. I've been sitting on Season 3 from the library for a few weeks, afraid to start it, but I finally put it in yesterday and watched all 12 episodes.
