I gotta stop watching Japan trip videos. My algorithms all know I’m looking into Japan and a lot of those infomercial & influencer videos aren’t that helpful. I’m debating what luggage to take. I’m leaning towards my larger travel backpack because I can’t find my roller bag (might be at Hendon). I can’t remember what I took to China 2 years ago now. Must’ve been the larger backpack.

Bring all the underwear. I saw a really good video from Rick Steve's about how to back for a trip.

I had to stop watching trip prep vids because they were freaking me out. TMI.

I am packed. Locked & loaded. Just need to activate a few apps and I’ll be as ready as I’ll ever be: although I don’t think I’ve travelled this far so unprepared before. It’s been a while since I just travelled for the adventure of it with no specific mission or quest.

Thanks. I’ll likely be keeping notes here because I’m paranoid about posting trips on social media after working with so many situational awareness authors at YMAA.

At SFO
Took the train & Bart up. Been forever since I’ve ridden either and was impressed with the upgrades.
Boarding soon…

We are here
Boarded the train at 7:30am. Now in our lovely room at 1:30am pst. We’re right near the historic kaminarimon gate and can see it from our window. When we open the bathroom, the toilet lifts and lights up to greet us. There’s a Denny’s, a Starbucks, & 7/11 nearby. It’s a major tourist zone. We are ready to be tourists, but we gotta rest first. Been a long ride to get here.

They gave us free electrolyte drinks when we got our train tix as part of a welcome to Japan promo. Pocari sweat (an old standby if you know your Japanese drinks).

We just collapsed when we got to the hotel. Been researching where everything is in relationship to us. Rough night for both of us due to circadian adjustment.

Today we’re looking at exploring the park nearby, the castle & national museum.

The bathroom here is the best I’ve ever seen. Amazing toilet, shower & tub.

That's the weight loss conundrum about some people on vacation. I ate so much food but I didn't gain a pound. Food outside the US must be so much better for me. Maybe, but you've also burned a ton of calories walking around.

Everything is smaller in Tokyo including serving size. Meals are running about $10 (dollar > yen rn) and the food quality has been excellent. Those $1.50 egg sandwiches @ 7/11 are good. I a few hours I’m going to get a few of them maybe. 7/11 rocks here!
