From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman
#1

A modest sword sensei gets summoned to the big city to train the municipal guard. There he meets many of his old students who have grown into hot young women who seem to all be crushing on him. Just like real life, eh Maestro Yeti?

It’s set in an anime world where they wield broadswords but the choreo is mostly kendo based along with most of the terminology because it’s Japanese, although they did say zweihander & ricasso. The city looks like Solvang, but there’s magic and monsters like cave goblins and griffins. The men dress in robes, tunics & trousers. The women dress like anime hotties, a mash up of colorful maid skirts and Klingon armor, lingerie panties and lots of cleavage. And all the women have huge eyes with jewel-like irises. It’s fairly wholesome so far. Not bloody or perverse (although the anime hotties do get flashes of provocative poses during fight scenes, like anime babes do.

I’m weirdly into it. Eps are a little more than 20 mins and there’s only one season of a dozen eps.

Recommended for D00M sword teachers.

Only 3 eps left but I don’t know when I’ll be able to get to them - busy week ahead.

This anime is simply charming and DM’s total teenage dream from when he was just picking up the sword. The sword master is highly skilled yet humble and good hearted. He is surrounded by hot anime babes, all much young and all crushing on him. This is how DM hoped it would be after mastering sword (it’s not, not at all). A comforting show.

All D00M swordsmen should give this a glance, maybe just the first ep or two, just for fun.

It's got that anime romance vibe, which is all about mustering up the courage to confess how you feel, missed chances and misunderstood intentions. The fight scenes are fun because we hear the inner dialogue of how the fighters are perceiving and strategizing.

It got quite sanguineous at the end. And there isn’t a big season finale. All in all, a charming anime series that plays with the absurd fantasies any swordsman has when they begin.

Not particularly D00M recommeded but those of us who still practice swordsmanship (u kno who u r) might give it a peep, just for laughs.

A second season is supposed to drop this summer and I’ll probably give it a gander.
