Both the Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe and the Hamburger Kunsthalle are worth visiting.

Well, truth be told, I don’t eat tunafish anymore. So I’ll try the German tunafish & egg pizza but hold the tunafish.
Tunafish was a major staple for me for years until David Lindley got me to stop.

Don't tell me. I still eat tuna.

I only eat tuna very rarely. I prefer sardines.

Sardines are great. If you have a shop called The Spanish Table in your area, go there.
Huge breakfast buffets are fueling us during the day, then a nice dinner. Beer in between.

Long Stadtbummel today with H's "Bonusfamilie" who are genuinely decent sorts. My brain is as tired as fat hamster scrambling on a fast wheel, trying to keep up with the language. Hamburg is a great city, lotsa cool new architecture along with some cool old stuff. Still lots of industry & shipping, with old industrial areas being converted into Hipster Housing.
Tomorrow, Berlin.

Cue up the Bowie (IMO the Berlin years were his peak, and the German version seemed appropriate)

Didn’t see David Bowie anywhere. Did have the best Vietnamese food of my life, though. Better than Slanted Door, better than some holes-in-the-walls I’ve had elsewhere. My gob was smacked.
Slept late today, will go out and brave the weather in a few.

The weather played nice (mid-70’s, no rain) tomorrow will likely be wetter. Going to go off to some other neighborhoods to see what they have to offer. Tomorrow night starts the busy social whirl that will be the norm for the rest of the week as H’s pals file into town.
I predict…*Beer*. The contrast between Amsterdam and Berlin is not subtle. Amsterdam is populated by The Beautiful People and is pretty darn clean. Berlin is populated by all kinds of people and not especially clean. Berlin reminds me a lot of SF as it was back in the 90’s. Very young, very ex-pat, everyone working gigs to support their art, their substance habits, or both. Lots of graffiti. Substantial homeless population. The Ukrainians that were welcomed 2 years ago are now underground and only tolerated. Two years ago, other asylum-seekers, brown ones, were shoved out of their housing to make room for the more pleasingly white Ukrainians. That ship seems to have sailed, however.

Very cool. I've never been to either place. I suppose Amsterdam is on the bucket list.
Any armory museums? Berlin must have something, right? Post more pix please. And not just of your beers.

Spent most of yesterday hanging out with one of H’s besties. Started with a nice brunch, segued into coffee & baklava at a Turkish cafe to get out of the rain, once the rain quit we had a nice walk through Fredrichshain neighborhood to friend’s flat. Fredrichshain is a rapidly gentrifying ‘hood in the former East Berlin.
Afterwards, a bit of shopping, then a late dinner. Today is lazy day, camped out in the large lobby while it rains outside. H is getting her research together to build her new classes. I’ve fished a book and am starting another. Tonight, a dinner with more of H’s friends at a Lebanese restaurant. Currently on my second wheat beer. No, no museums for me.
