Oh, Aoife. I had set some chicken breasts cooling on the counter while I took a nap. When I awoke, the Queen asked me if there shouldn't be more chicken breasts on that tray. Yes, there should have been twice as many.
Later upon returning from the dog walk, I went to return the cat food bowls that were on the same counter to the outside cat. I can't leave them outside when Aoife is off leash or she will depart from the walk, find those bowls, and lick them clean. I went to grab the bowls from the counter and they were gone. While I showered, Aoife did what Aoife does. I thought we had moved beyond stealing from the counter phase. Yesterday, proved me wrong.

The vet thinks Yuki sprained his right front pinky bean. He was severely limping yesterday. She gave him some doggy advil, and if he doesn’t improve by Monday, she’ll take x-rays to see if there’s a hairline fracture.
We also got him his allergy shot so he’ll stop rubbing his face on everything.

Yuki seems to be walking more evenly but is still gnawing on his toe a bit.
Last night, when I got my havarti nite cheese, he appeared magically like he does, demanded i pay the required cheese tax, then when promptly back to bed. Usually he hangs out with me while we bask in the post-nite cheese glow… Not last night. It was just ‘gimme a bite’ then he was done with me.

I do two walks in the morning: one for me and one for the dogs. The one for me, the dogs are leashed. The one for them, the dogs are off-leash for part of the walk. During the off-leash portion of the walk yesterday, Aoife cornered the neighbor's cat, Kitty, near a culvert at a different neighbor's house. Usually there is just a chase involved. No harm. No foul. But Lily raced in and helped Aoife. Kitty was trapped between the both of them. I thought it was the end of Kitty. I kept seeing the cat lunge away while Aoife would grab Kitty and drag her back. Kitty was desperate to get past Kitty to get through a fence which Aoife couldn't pass through. But Aoife blocked her from that avenue of escape. The whole fight took down this little bank that I couldn't quite navigate in order to halt the proceedings. I did a lot of useless yelling. Eventually, Kitty made it into the culvert. Aoife used to be able to go through this culvert but has a grown a little too big to do that.
I found a way down the bank and tried to see into the culvert to see how Kitty was doing, but I couldn't see far enough into the tunnel to see him. I grabbed the dogs and took them home. I came back with a big flashlight to better see into the culvert. When I shined the light in, I saw a fast moving ball of fur dart out the other end. Kitty seemed to be a live, but I didn't know what shape he was in.
I pass Kitty's house about three times on my morning walks. The owners let him out in the morning to wander around before locking him up for the day. I desperately wanted to see how he was doing. On the second pass, I spotted Kitty near his garage. The dogs were with me but leashed up. Usually, when Kitty spots me, he races down the gravel driveway to get pets and the occasional chicken treat. I keep the leashed dogs away from him.
Today, that didn't happen. Instead, Kitty looked at me for several seconds then squatted down to take a big dump. He never stopped looking at me while pooping. I got the message.
Kitty did finally come to see me. He didn't seem to have any injuries or damage. I gave him a lot of guilt chicken.

I was worried this episode was going to go badly. Instead, lol.
Cats. They redefine attitude. Cattitude.
