Seems like a lot of work to restore this...and for what?
So there’s been some weird buzz about this restoration project. Apparently the film was made back in the 80s ninja craze yet never developed. It was finally brought to life with a new soundtrack and debuts in NYC now. Den got me the screener and is positioning me to interview the restorer.
Why? Why even bother? This film is horribly bad. It’s retro and has that ‘might become a cult film’ because it’s so bad, but I didn’t find it outrageous enough. It’s just bad.
The lead John Liu I’ve ever heard of but he planned a sequel L.A. Ninja and has a great right leg. The fight choreo is painfully bad although one villain uses a pair of rapiers from AFS. That always amuses me and I’m sure it would amuse yeti. I would’ve probably turned it off if I did t have to watch it all for work.
Man, I’m getting paid to watch horribly bad ninja movies. What fresh level of hell have I fallen into now?
Not D00M recommended. If we were all together with ample libations (srsly ample) it might have potential, but that seems unlikely.
