I know, I'm late to the long boat on this one. I've actually watched a few eps over the years. I checked more out when researching Katheryn Winnick for Wu Assassins. Lots of good gritty sword fights.
I figured I'd peep a few more because Den has tasked me to interview the fight choreographer and sword maker for the new prequel series dropping in Feb. The original series is 6 seasons, 89 eps. I hope to cherry pick some good ones, but they've promised screeners of the new series, so who knows how far I'll get. The series is okay if you like a lot of dirty medieval white people. I like Winnick. She stole the show in Wu Assassins. I do like the fights. Maybe I should just fast forward to the fight scenes.
Anyone else delve into this show? Maestro? This seems like your sort of series...

Nope, never watched it. Winnik is hawt.

I must say the show is pretty good. That's based on the first ep and an odd smattering of other eps I've watched over the years. Maybe I'll start nibbling on those 89 eps. Seems like a daunting binge. But so far, it's D00M recommendable based on the sword fights alone. And Winnick. She's hawt and has skillz.
I just got access to the first 5 eps of the new prequel series Vikings: Valhalla. That'll be my weekend binge. It's not supposed to be that connected to the original so I don't feel I'm at too much of a loss. But I'll be searching for 'best of' lists online to catch up on the series.

When you're done with that, you can binge Norsemen on Netflix

I dunno, man. I don't want to overload on Nordic content. But that did confuse me for a bit. Vikings is Amazon Prime but this new Vikings: Valhalla is Netflix.
I do love the concept of Valhalla. It comforts me when my martial/warrior friends die. When my dear friend Buster died, I was in the ER with a circle of RM friends. He wasn't a martial artist, but he was a reincarnated Viking, I'm sure. He taught me how to drink scotch after hiking the whisky trail, and collected Viking sword reproductions (he had a few good ones). He was a major RM accomplice and we shared so many wicked adventures.
As he went agonal, I whispered in his ear 'Fly to Valhalla brother. I'll meet you there soon.'
I'll probably say the same to all of you if I'm by your side when you die.

Had s1e2 playing as a had a snack and mulled over some interview questions. That was a vicious ep - sword smith burning, foreplay beating, slave raping, Christian monk massacring vicious. This goes on for 89 eps? Hmmmmm.
