A new anime loosely based on the black Samurai under Nobunaga. 6 half hour eps. It’s fantasy with demons, sorcery, robots and werebears. I just got access to the screeners for some sort of review for Den. Tara & I watched the first three eps. It was super fun to watch this with her.
It’s sanguineous. Yasuke is a dreadlocked boatsman after Nobunaga’s seppuku. He has to protect a little girl with growing magical powers.
We enjoyed it. The robot is the comic relief. We don’t know why he’s even there. The robot is the only piece of tech so far.The evil priest was emperor palpatine who gets almost lovecraftian after emitting Force lightning. There’s a cleavage baring scythe villainess and an evil magic monk too. Nothing is explained about this world.
Swordfights - some really bloody ones. Recommended for DOOMers who like it bloody.

Finished. The first half was more interesting to me but my opinion may be tainted by watching it with Tara which made it much better. The last three episodes take up a new arc and it does come together well in the finale where it goes off the rails anime. It was amusing overall. Now to write it up.

I’m in yet another zoom waiting room to talk to LeSean in Japan. All by myself.

That interview went well. I could've talked to him for hours. Fascinating and very engaged.
I already wrote the feature about the historical accuracy of the anime, but the interview might be enough to stand alone. I might pitch a second piece.

Probably. I don't mind messaging. But does it have to be delivered with a sledgehammer?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Better a sledgehammer than a bullet.

Synchronicity. Lakeith Standfield played Judas in Judas and the Black Messiah.

Yup. He comes up in my interview with LeSean, which I imagine Den will drop tomorrow when this premieres. I don't really know who he is because I haven't seen that yet.
I have two features queued: the interview and another on history.
