The Bishop's Wife (1947)
#1
David Niven is the Bishop. Loretta Young is the titular wife. Cary Grant is an angel. Xmas is coming. The angel comes in answer to the Bishop's prayers, but the Bishop is so immersed in his work he neglects his wife. The angel entertains her and is smitten. The Bishop realizes what's up and challenges the angel to a sword fight. Okay, no, that doesn't happen. He does challenge him to a fist fight. It's a sweet old B&W film. Cary is charming as ever, performing random miracles constantly. Loretta is luminous and it's a good role for David as he plays awkward frustration well.

No sword fights. I was just teasing. Only recommended for DOOMers who like classic xmas flix.

Is this your first time seeing this film? Did you see the Whitney remake with Denzel?

One of my favorite Xmas films; no year is complete without it. We saw it at the Stanford Theater a couple of years ago and that was very nice. DM forgot to mention that Monty Woolley has a great part as the professor.
