The Queen and I gave up staying up late for New Years Eve long ago. I think the last time we made the effort to go out, we went to Uncle Al's house for a party. That was many moons ago.
Last night we kept checking in with CNN's coverage from Time's Square where Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen had hosting duties. We also watched That's Entertainment on TCM. I mainly do it to look at the MGM lot from back in the day. I think after they made these movies, they sold off the land where the back lots where located and turned them into housing developments. Fun Fact one of the housing developments is called Tara Estates for obvious reasons.

From watching CNN, I can tell that Cohen can handle his liquor much better than Cooper. At one point they did Jaeger shots which Cooper had never even heard of.

The beauty of the CCN broadcast is that it is over by 9pm, which is late even for us at this point.

i went downtown to the clock tower and ran into one of my partners-in-crime who was trippin.  it was a very high school/ucsc freshman scene.  we walked the mall afterwards.  it was amusing yet chilly.  i'm glad to have done that just to experience the clock tower cruz nye scene but feel no need to do that ever again.
 happy new decade, doomers.

Stayed in with Harriett, ate delivery pizza, watched a Shaw Bros flick, then went for a brief stroll around midnight.
Harriett’s mom loved kung-fu movies, so she was raised on Shaw Brothers. As a palate-cleanser, I showed the final fight from Jet Li’s Martial Arts of Shaolin.

In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Lady Cranefly and I were in bed.  Not asleep.  I was reading The Mosquito: A Human History of Our Deadliest Predator (2019) by Wineguard; the Lady was browsing the web.  At three minutes till, she brought up a countdown clock on her laptop, and at zero we brought in the New Year with Martinelli's sparkling cider.  It was a 750 mL bottle, and in a daring bit of decadence we finished off the bottle.  Then we went to sleep.
The neighborhood, lacking a good book to read, set off some sporadic fireworks.

after my stroll downtown, i surfed the web (as evidenced by some posts here) and had a full shot of redbreast 12 in my irish whiskey museum glass, which is like a double shot, maybe even a triple.

She had not seen the height of Shaw Bros “WTF?!?!” that is Holy Flame of the Martial Arts World. As the Shaw Bros were the background of her childhood, she hadn’t really *watched* them so much as she had just *experienced* them. It was a rollicking good time.

All of DOOM must add this to their queue.  I can not give a higher DOOM recommendation than Web of Death.
