This type of stuff us usually cumulative, sometimes with a back-breaking straw, sometimes not. If you don't remember a single catastrophic incident, it's likely a "mileage" issue and will take time to heal. Important to get a good diagnosis and then good PT.

Wait! One of us has a mind left to lose? Interesting.
Get well, my friend.

From the Anatomy for Artists course I took a year ago, it sounds like a strain of the rhomboid. Not that it particularly helps to know what muscle, if it is a muscle. And I'm not a doctor (though I play one in some of my dreams).

I've been thinking rhomboid actually. It's a deep ache and this morning was rough. My forearm was having a lot of referal pain, and like an idiot I was doing deep self massage trying to work out the knot. Never wise when on muscle relaxants. This morning, my forearm was more sore than my back. I doused it in white flower oil and it's doing a little better now.

I had a CT scan on Friday for a persistent ache in my chest. After a few months, I thought it was time to get it checked out, considering the blood clots, age, etc. Tests came back negative (Yay!) which means it's likely muscular. I'll chalk it up to being a Living Target .
On a side note, the nurse took 3 tries to get the IV in and I have spectacular bruising in the crook of both arms.

'likely muscular'
yeah, heard that before.
spectacular arm crook bruising reminds me of my epee days. when i suffered that pnuemothorax, the er doc saw all my bruises and thought they were track marks. he got all excited until i explained.
i fiddled with my ergonomic positioning at my workstation a lot but it didn't seem to help much. lloks like i'll be alternating between working there and working on my laptop in bed for a spell...

After a week or so of just powering through the pain, pretending that I would be okay if I just kept moving, today my knee decided it had enough of this bullshit and showed me I was kidding myself. The knee was kind of cranky all night but I decided to go on my walk any, although in an abbreviated fashion. Couldn't even do that much. About fifteen minutes into the walk, my knee said no. I, literally, hobbled home. I took some ibuprofen but that doesn't seem to be helping.

When I went to the ER, I was informed that ibu doesn't come in 500. That's acetominophen. Ibu only comes in 200, 600, & 800. I'm doing the 8s, alternating with aceto 5 & norco.
Just booked an appt tomorrow with a new chiro that's right down the street.

I see your 600 and raise you 800.
I’m on a 3 hour rotation. Next round is norco. Yeah.
Stacy gave me a hot stone treatment where I took a nice nap. Feeling generally drowsy and a bit ditsy due to 5 days of meds. In a way, it’s good that this happened over the holiday so I can just be a loaf. But then again, it’s not like a real holiday, is it?
Hope you’re feeling better soon, Greg. We have mountains to climb…

Acetaminophen is good for pain, but not for inflammation. The Ibuprofen anti-inflamm dose is 800mg every 8 hours. I used to do 1000mg in the old days, but was corrected by a couple of physicians. I still like acetaminophen for headaches & fever. I still sneak in ibuprofen when my knees are particularly bad, though I'm not s'posed to.
