no freebies on this one. it's a benefit. but instead of watchin videos, you could all see some live stuff, not to mention a very burnt out drunk monk on the mike in a drunk monkey suit....

Nothing like a Drunk Monk to raise money for charity.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

OK - I'm calling it off.

I'll spend Memorial Day Weekend drinking, smoking cigars, playing WoW and watching my DVD box set of Brisco County Jr.

If we change our minds we are locked to Saturday. I'm committing to Sunday/Monday invites from other sources.

Briscoe County, Jr.....another great series that didn't make it. It was the nearest thing to The Wild, Wild West. Bruce Campbell ROCKS!

I once again bow before your DVD-fu (which is better than my usual running away, screaming in abject horror)

Loose Lucy is my delight
She comes running and we ball all night
Round and round and round and round
Don't take much to get me on the ground
She's my yo-yo, I'm her string
Listen to the birds on the hot wire sing

Singing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Singing thank you, for a real good time

I should have put this in music, actually - it spilled over from here:

The DOOM Dragon Squad now consists of Legbone, maybe Legone's kids, and the Glynch, with possible cameos from The Queen and Lady Cranefly. Lady Cranefly will be at BayCon, which just happens to be at the same facility that day. I suspect the platypus furry there will be Cranefly.

See http://baycon.org/2008/index.html

Come on now, the rest of you. Does this sound like fun or what? What does the rest of DOOM have going for the weekend?

A night of comedy at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center will provide a laugh for the audience and a helping hand for the public radio station that brings you the home-grown radio success “The Sound of Young America.”

The line-up on May 24th features San Francisco’s Brent Weinbach, UCSC grad Mary Van Note, and the sketch troupe Kasper Hauser, whose comedy podcasts Thorn produces. Jesse Thorn will preside as Master of Ceremonies.

The Sound of Young America started at KZSC when its host, Jesse Thorn, was studying at UC Santa Cruz. KUSP picked up the show after its run at KZSC came to an end—the support helped keep the show on the air as Thorn crafted it into its current form. “Picking up The Sound of Young America was a natural for KUSP,” says the station’s General Manager, Terry Green. “It is a great radio show and podcast, and Jesse had the ambition to make it available to public radio stations across the country.... Now it's on the air on coast to coast!”

Featuring
Sketch comedians Kasper Hauser – "Destined for comic greatness... bizarre collective brilliance." - SF Chronicle "One of the few comic teams which has rightfully earned the description Pythonesque." - Time Out New York
Standup comedy from Mary Van Note 2005 UCSC graduate-- "The look of a Sunday School teacher, but material that would make Don Rickles blush." - KQED
Brent Weinbach The Comedians of Comedy, The Late Late Show -"Disturbingly brilliant" - LA Weekly

Tim Powers at Baycon?! He's one of my favorites. Well, that changes everything! I think I'll sleep in, then go teach fencing on Saturday afternoon, have Sunday brunch with Glynch + Her Majesty and then work some more on Monday.

I guess it didn't change anything. Damn!

Anyone want to join us for Sunday late breakfast/lunch combination?

...but I'll go down and help out my mom with my dad, like I do every weekend. Just because I'm beat to shit doesn't mean I can shirk responsibilities.

You're working Monday? You poor bastard...
