They’re peppy

They played OSL in 2021.

I confess that I had to search that out. The D00M4M is my long-term memory. I knew I had seen them before at OSL but I couldn't remember when.

IMO, a lot of the Vampire Weekend thing was the Hi-Life-ish rhythms. After the second album they moved away from that (and the drummer quit in there somewhere) and although I gave the next two albums a try, neither one really did anything for me. You all probably remember songs from the first album, which was really strong, but there were a couple of good ones on the second album, "Holiday" and "Giving Up the Gun."

Giving up the Gun is my favorite, helped by an awesome video.

I'm curious about that sun & moon symbol. Maybe they're doing a day set and a night set?

It's an intriguing line-up, a lot of acts I want to see but not necessarily for a whole set - perfect for OSL for me. Tara is excited about more of the acts than me. I think this caters to her demographic a lot - the 20-something SF peeps.

Somewhere I read that Anderson.Paak is doing two sets but I can't search that out now. Maybe I dreamt it. So maybe VW is playing two sets. I'd only like to see part of one and I won't be disappointed if I miss that. There are plenty of other acts that I haven't seen that I'd like to check out this year.

I just got approved to RM this. Hopefully Tara did too. She’ll know when she gets out of Yosemite and back to civilized Wi-Fi. There was some snafu with our applications that caused a delay. The approvals came through just in time because we pick up our wristbands tomorrow.

After a frustrating morning of work where I was being inundated by JM drama during annoying telemeetings, I took Yuki for a long walk and then made it for SF. Got to Tara’s around 4 but there’s sidewalk repair so parking was harder than usual. We headed down to BGC and picked up our wristbands, then we ordered out for Italian (Bri has some sort of delivery deal). JJ who just returned from her very first backpacking trip (Stacy & Tara said she was a natural) and just finished moving to the sunset joined us for dinner. We watched Forbidden Kingdom which neither Bri nor JJ had seen. Amusing.

It’s odd to be back at Tara’s apt so soon. I has left a water bottle last Sunday and it was still on the shelf (Tara left for backpacking Saturday and just came back yesterday). It’s like I was hardly away. The cats & dog are amused. Charley, their goofy black cat, just jumped up on the bed and stuck her nose in my face as I was texting this.

I am ready for 3 days of OSL…

Messing with the cats. Tara & Bri are still asleep but there’s construction on their street and I’m impressed they can sleep through it. I got up, took a shower and am ready.

Let’s goooooooooo!

Some Sick EDM? Some Sikh EDM? Some Sick Sikh EDM? (Does anyone use "sick" anymore?) I listened to a little online and it's pretty good.

Etoh

Etoh teen in the thick of the crowd of notion. So many friends - whole freakin Marin class. Rolled him to main med
Then Tara & I picked up some la croix from the booth
Caught some fuzee someone and some other SJ - kept walk-in
Caught the end of Thundercat which was cool.
Now in skips place with a heavy shroomer on Wellbutrin (not a great combo) but he’s oriented.

Achieved a safe landing for my shroomer who turned out to be a lawyer.
Caught a song or Doechii which was cool - saw her kimchee one of her dancers which was funny
Caught a lot of Doja Cat who was disappointing. Kinda flat in her delivery. She can twerk tho.
Beck was super cool. A nice finish, mellow & soulful.
It was a day of teen girl drunks & hysterics. Tara did some nice work with a foursome of hysteric sorority girls. She impressed one of the supes, which is good to see her step out from under my psych pshadow.
Had a delish Oaxaca queso tamale & elote for lunch. A fair nachos for dinner but I ate it too fast so it gave me a spot of indigestion.
A fine Friday overall. It went from weirdly sunny and empty to packed with drippy fog.
