Yeah, it was an off road fire just south of Lexington. Shut down 17 both ways. I was stuck for about 40 mins. It was on the SB side. There had to be over 2 dozen response vehicles. At least I was stuck in a shady spot with a pleasant view (if I overlooked the tail lights).

Driving home from TC on Wednesday - something I haven't done in months - and I was like 'wow, this is a feckin long commute. how the heck did I manage this for 7 years?'
And there wasn't even any traffic. So there's a blessing to count. Glad those 40+ miles won't be a tri-weekly commute any longer.

Trying to get home but there’s a fat red bar southbound. Cut the Gatos. Lotta people out in patio seating - sucking out exhaust

Coming over 17 a few hours ago, Gomorrah came up on the CD I was playing (Electric on the eeel shows) and it hit me like a hammer. Good ol’ Jerry. A quarter century later, his echoes still give me chills...

I barely made it over hwy17 yesterday. When I left svale, it was starting to drizzle. It went torrential when I hit the cats and the pass was challenging. I've lost so much of my driving skill over 2020. I drove over hwy17 6x a week for 7 years, but like so many things, it decays if you don't practice it. Yesterday's ride was both thrilling and nostalgic. One of the few things I'm grateful from last year was reducing my driving time.

Did my old commute from TC to the Cruz at around 3:30 so there was traffic. Wow, what an unpleasant flashback. Glad I don’t have to do that 3x a week anymore.

I've come thru SC at commute hour(s) a few times in the past couple of weeks. It sucked. 30 min to get from downtown to Soquel. So glad I'm not commuting regularly. I hope to keep that going. --tg

I've noticed more traffic than in the middle of lockdown, but still light because no students on campus. The big problem now is a lot of street work.

I had a lovely drive home this afternoon. It was raining, but only lightly, more like a heavy wet mist. Ordinarily that's hazardous but there were hardly any other cars on the road. I was reminded how beautiful HWY17 is, especially when the redwoods are wrapped in mist like that.
After the fires last week, the rain is so welcome. Hope there's more.

Stuck northbound. Big accident on the other side of the curve. Dead stop. Good thing I left a half hour early…
