Last year I really got into South Korean films. My favorite Korean actor starred in The Host and in several other
noteworthy films. I nicknamed him Big Cheeks because he has these prominent slabs for cheeks. His name is
Song Kang-ho.
I see that he is in The Good, the Bad and the Weird, though I'm not certain which he is. However, if I were
directing, he would be the Weird, without hesitation.
By the way, I recently dissed Miike's samarai western. I stand by my review, though some people have liked it.
I'll point out one more asian western I've seen, the Thai "Tears of the Black Tiger." It is a bit too maudlin at times for me,
but has some distinct and well-thought-out stylistic flourishes. So I would recommend it, but with some reservations.
I'll add The Good, the Bad and the Weird to my list too. Thanks.
