'Twas fun...I met up with my friend Jerry. It's a swanky boutique tech bro hotel, next to Hewitt packard enterprise (formerly Juniper) and nestled amongst Google buildings, not far from the Baylands and Moffett...
Started with a Manhattan from the bar and some furikaki fries. Then with the help of Desiree, the Nikki rep, we sampled the gin (very good, floral, almost sweet - with the secret ingredient of uzo. I would/will buy this...) then, the "From the Barrel" blend...a tasty smooth whisky. Then, I had the grain whiskey and Jerry had the malt whisky - Young and a little rough, but Ok. Then we finished with a taste of the 11 year. Very peaty. Funny to me because peaty makes me think of bogs in Scotland, but this comes from Japan. Not my thing...
After our sampling and a discussion with the bartender over the merits of organic farming, we left and went to Valley Goat / Treehouse - another swanky tech bro hotel amongst the tech companies. It's actually only a block away, but I had to go about a mile, get back on 237 and go around to get there.
Some Google team had booked the main restaurant and patio for an event, so we sat in the beer garden and had pretzels and bourbon smashes. It was a lovely evening in spite of being surrounded by tech buildings and people.
