I enjoyed that immensely. I loved its comments on music, evil and racism, especially it’s fake on the blues. The vampire tropes were funny and shifted the tone enough to re-engage my attention. The Night of the Living Dead nod was appreciated. The notion that music invites the devil totally worked for me.
Ultimately what sold it for me was the cameo in the credits. That tied the blues homage up nicely and brought the metaphor and mythology of the blues into focus. Not sure if I’d consider it Oscar-worthy but these are the times we live in; horror racism is the metaphor. The credits cameo and the Juke Joint oner sold me on the movie. You know what a sucker I am for oners (and that was a freaking great one) and music legends.
